Lion Cubs Jasiri and Azizi Leaving the Phoenix Zoo and Headed to Zoo Miami!
The Phoenix Zoo is bidding a fond farewell to lion brothers Jasiri and Azizi, who will soon embark on an exciting new chapter at Zoo Miami. The move will take place in early November and comes at the recommendation of the Lion Species Survival Plan (SSP), which guides the management of lions in AZA accredited zoos.

At nearly a year and a half old, the young males have reached the age when they would naturally leave their family pride in the wild. Their relocation also supports future breeding opportunities here at the Phoenix Zoo.
Born in June 2024 to parents Boboo and Zuri, Jasiri and Azizi have delighted guests with their playful personalities and strong bond. While the Zoo team will greatly miss them, staff are thrilled that the brothers will remain together as they grow and mature in their new home.
Before they depart, guests are invited to join a Miami Vice-themed going away party on Sunday, October 26, from 9 – 11 a.m. Celebrate these beloved cubs and watch as Jasiri and Azizi enjoy special enrichment toys. Leave your wishes at a card station, learn about lions from our ZooTeens and enjoy a Miami-Vice themed photo opp!
