Salt River Fields at Talking Stick remains one of the most popular facilities to attend a spring training game. Located within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), it carries an inherently unique vibe. The Community is home to two distinct Native American tribes: the “Pima” - Onk Akimel O’odham (Salt River People) and the “Maricopa” - Xalychidom Piipaash (Upriver People). While they have distinguishable cultures and languages, the two tribes share a great amount of the same values. Similarly, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies come from two different states, with different players, yet, they both have made Salt River Fields their spring training home.
Spring Training Opening Day is also celebrated as “SRPMIC Day” in which Salt River Fields, Dbacks and Rockies honor the partnership with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The special pre-game program will begin with live performances by Bird Singing and Dancing by the River, as well as the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Traditional Dancers. The National Anthem will be performed in the O’odham (Pima) language by Miss Indian Arizona, Sialik King. To mark the occasion, the ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Salt River Council Member, Su:k Chu:vak Fulwilder and Jr. Miss Salt River, Tiaré Begaye-Smith. Throughout the game, guests can enjoy SRPMIC Artists demonstrations along the concourse featuring traditional basketry by Raeann Brown and Alice Manuel, traditional pottery by August Wood, and traditional leatherwork by Gabriel Martinez.

Spring training games are held every day at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick starting February 20, 2026 through March 24, 2026 and are open to the public.

About the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is represented by two distinct Native American tribes; the Akimel O’odham (River People), more commonly known as the Pima and the Xalychidom Piipaash (Upriver People) commonly known as the Maricopa; both share the same cultural values but maintain their unique traditions. Today, more than 11,000 individuals are enrolled Salt River tribal members.
The SRPMIC is bordered by Tempe, Fountain Hills and Mesa and shares a Scottsdale address. The Community owns and operates several successful enterprises including Salt River Materials Group and Saddleback Communication and hospitality enterprises: Talking Stick Resort, Talking Stick Golf Club and Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, all within the Talking Stick Entertainment District, on the northern part of the Community. The culture and the history of the people is an important story to tell and have been interwoven at many of the destination amenities through interior art, building design and landscape.
